    Alix Earle Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

    This scholarship is open to juniors and seniors currently enrolled at the University of Miami, pursuing a business degree. The primary criterion for selection will be financial need, as determined by the University of Miami Office of Financial Assistance and Employment.

    Application Process

    To be eligible for the Alix Earle Scholarship, students must be registered at the University of Miami, either in their junior or senior year, and actively working towards a business degree.

    Applications should encompass two essential components:

    1. Resume: Showcase your journey thus far. This can include your academic accomplishments, involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, or any pertinent work experience.
    2. Video Submission: Create a captivating video, no longer than two minutes in duration, which reveals your personality and thoughtfully addresses two critical questions: a. What impact would receiving this scholarship have on your educational and career aspirations? b. Why is it personally significant for you to be a student at the University of Miami?

    How to Apply:

    Are you considering Miami Herbert Business School for your undergraduate business education?

    To pursue a business major at the University of Miami, you must be a degree-seeking student at Miami Herbert Business School. The choice of a specific business major does not influence the admissions decision, either directly or indirectly. Upon admission as a new first-year student, you will automatically become a part of the business school in your first semester.

    Students admitted to other schools or colleges in their first semester at UM can request an internal transfer to Miami Herbert Business School, following a set of established policies and a transfer process. Regardless of when you plan to transition to Miami Herbert, having strong quantitative skills is typically important for success.

    Any questions concerning grants, prizes, loans, or merit scholarships should be directed to the Office of Financial Services (OFAS).

    2. Create a BusinessCAS account.
    3. Use “Miami” as a search term to narrow down program options.
    4. Select your program of interest.
    5. Start your application.

    Please note that you should use the same login information for all your applications within BusinessCAS. It’s recommended to use Chrome or Firefox for accessing the BusinessCAS application portal. For the best user experience, check this link for browser compatibility and other technical requirements.

    Each graduate program starts at a specific time each year, so make sure to choose the correct term when logging into the application portal. If you don’t see your program listed on the program selection page, log in again and verify that you’ve chosen the right term for your program. Once you’ve added the program(s) you plan to apply to, you can proceed with your application.

    Application Deadlines

    Miami Herbert’s graduate application deadlines vary depending on the program term you’re applying for.

    Here’s an overview of important deadline dates to keep in mind:

    • Please note that the deadlines for our Miami Online MBA and Online Master of Science in Finance may differ from those below, so refer to the program’s pages for more details.
    • The application deadline for doctoral programs for Fall 2024 is January 5. Remember that the application deadline is the date by which you need to express your interest by submitting a completed application form.
    • However, certain application materials, such as recommendations, test scores (if applicable), and official transcripts, may still be submitted after the deadline and after your application is received.

    Please be aware of the following important deadlines for international applicants:

    1. For those who do not currently hold an F-1 Visa, the last day to apply is indicated as the International Applicant Deadline. Applications submitted after this date will be considered based on availability.
    2. Doctoral Programs: The application deadline for Fall 2024 is January 5. We strongly recommend that applicants submit their applications early to have a better chance of admission and scholarship consideration.
    3. Applicants are given a 10-day window from the application deadline to submit all required materials for consideration. Incomplete files that remain incomplete beyond 10 days of the application deadline will be deferred to the next application cycle.

    Application Requirements:

    1. Eligibility: The University of Miami Herbert Business School welcomes applicants who have completed or are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. The Admission Committee evaluates candidates based on academic performance and professional leadership experience. We are looking for students who possess both intellectual and interpersonal abilities to enhance the classroom environment, excel academically, and demonstrate leadership potential.
    2. Personal Statement: Your personal statement provides the Admission Committee with insights into your background, experiences, goals, and what you can bring to the program. The application includes prompts to guide you in crafting your personal statement.
    3. Current Resume: Submit a resume (or CV) outlining your academic and professional achievements, as well as any relevant accomplishments you want the committee to consider.
    4. Official Academic Transcripts: While unofficial transcripts can be uploaded within the BusinessCAS application for a faster review, official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended are required for enrollment.
    5. Official GMAT (or GRE) Score: Some full-time graduate business programs may require a GMAT or GRE score for admission. However, you can submit this score after submitting your application. The committee may consider requests to waive the test requirement on a case-by-case basis. Note that Doctoral Programs do not consider waivers. Programs exempt from the GMAT or GRE requirement include Executive MBA programs, the Professional MBA, the Master of Science in Leadership, and the Master of International Business.
    6. Letters of Recommendation: The number of recommendations needed varies depending on the program. Details can be found in the Program Materials section of the BusinessCAS application. Recommendations assess your academic and professional achievements, as well as your managerial and leadership potential.

    International Applicant Requirements:

    If you are an international applicant, you may need to provide additional materials. Refer to the Program Materials section for full details and reach out to your enrollment advisor with any questions.

    1. Academic Evaluation (if applicable): Applicants with education completed outside the United States must provide an official course-by-course evaluation confirming equivalence to a U.S. bachelor’s degree and GPA. The ICAP service by World Education Services (WES), a BusinessCAS partner, is recommended, but evaluations from other NACES member evaluation services are also accepted.
    2. English Proficiency and Conditional Admissions: International applicants whose native language is not English must submit an English language proficiency score report. This requirement may be waived for individuals who earned a degree in an English-speaking country. Accepted exams include:
      • TOEFL with a minimum score of 94 (University of Miami code: 5815)
      • IELTS with a minimum score of 7.0 (University of Miami code: 4861)

      For certain specialized master’s programs, candidates with strong academic performance who don’t meet the minimum TOEFL or IELTS score may be considered for conditional admission. A minimum TOEFL score of 80 or an IELTS score of 6.5 is required. These students must complete a 4-week Graduate Business English Certificate Course before starting their academic program.

    Online Graduate Programs:

    For those interested in our online graduate programs, here are some key details:

    • Miami Online MBA: This program offers three start dates per year and does not require GMAT scores for application. Applying by the early priority deadline provides benefits such as waived application fees, quicker admissions decisions, and more time for planning. Scholarships are available for qualified applicants.
