Macphee Scholarship, established by Mabel MacPhee in memory of her late husband, Professor Emeritus of Recreation Education John MacPhee, aims to assist students pursuing studies in the Recreation, Parks, and Leisure Studies Department at SUNY Cortland. The scholarship supports off-campus fieldwork or attendance at a national professional conference related to the leisure services profession. One student is selected in the fall semester (applications accepted from November 1st to December 1st) for the following spring semester, and another is chosen in the spring semester (applications accepted from April 1st to May 1st) for the upcoming summer or fall semester, depending on availability.

    Dr. John A. Macphee Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

    • The scholarship is open to matriculated undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland.
    • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
    • Students should be enrolled full-time, with at least 12 credit hours for the semester receiving the funds.
