About A Hand Up Endowed Scholarship
The A Hand Up Endowed Scholarship is designed to assist full-time undergraduate or graduate students at Tarleton State University. A Hand Up Endowed Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the A Hand Up Endowed Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Enrollment as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at Tarleton State University.
- Majoring in one of the specified fields: engineering, computer science, construction science or engineering technology, biological sciences, chemistry, physics, mathematics, pre-nursing, nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, or criminal justice.
- First preference will be given to students eligible for the PELL grant.
- Second preference will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need.
Tarleton State University Scholarship Minimum Requirements
Academic Awards (Incoming Freshmen):
- Typically awarded to the top 25% of high school class.
- Require an SAT score of 1000 (Math & Verbal) or a new SAT score of 1080, or an ACT score of 23 (composite).
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Academic Awards (Returning & Transfer Students):
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Require an SAT score of 1000 (Math & Verbal) or a new SAT score of 1080, or an ACT score of 23 (composite).
Leadership Awards (Incoming Freshmen):
- Typically awarded to the top 25% of high school class.
- Require an SAT score of 1000 (Math & Verbal) or a new SAT score of 1080, or an ACT score of 23 (composite).
- Demonstrating leadership skills.
Leadership Awards (Returning & Transfer Students):
- Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Require an SAT score of 1000 (Math & Verbal) or a new SAT score of 1080, or an ACT score of 23 (composite).
- Demonstrating leadership skills.
Need-Based Awards (Incoming Freshmen):
- Preference given to first-generation students.
- Demonstrating financial need based on FAFSA.
Need-Based Awards (Returning & Transfer Students):

How to Apply for A Hand Up Endowed Scholarship:
To apply for this scholarship, please visit the official Tarleton State University scholarship application portal and complete the required application forms. Make sure to provide all necessary documentation and meet the eligibility criteria to enhance your chances of receiving this scholarship.
First-time Application Instructions:
- Go to the Academic Works page and click on “Sign Up” at the top right corner.
- Register your scholarship profile using the email address you used for university admissions. If you’ve already registered for classes, use your go.tarleton.edu email.
- Enter your email address and create a password with at least 12 characters, including 1 digit, 1 uppercase letter, and 1 lowercase letter. Confirm the password and click “Sign Up” at the bottom.
- A confirmation link will be sent to your registered email. Click on it to confirm your account.
- Once confirmed, you can access and complete the scholarship application.
- After submitting your application, you may receive notifications about additional recommended scholarships. If interested, answer the required questions for those scholarships and submit any necessary supplemental applications to be considered.
Updating Your General Scholarship Application:
- Go to the Academic Works page and click on “Sign In” at the top right corner.
- Sign in using your go Tarleton email address and password.
- Select “General Application” on the top left of the screen to update your application.
- Pay attention to the section asking for the academic term you’re applying for. Keep all previous years selected and add the current academic year.
- If you previously applied for recommended scholarships, reapply for them with the new academic year deadline if you still meet the requirements.
- Check the recommended opportunities again to see if you qualify for any new scholarships, and submit supplemental applications if applicable.
