Applicants who are not ABA or Section members at the time of application must become dues-paying ABA members upon approval of their program application. However, the Section will cover the cost of Section dues.

Fellows’ Responsibilities

During the fellowship period, fellows will be expected to fulfill specific tasks as directed by the ILS Diversity Officer. This includes active participation in committee activities as required by the Section, regular communication with their committee chair, the Diversity Officer, the Membership Officer, and their Section mentor, and completion of progress reports. Fellows will need to sign a Fellowship Agreement with ILS. Failure to comply with fellowship terms will result in the Section ceasing all support, including financial assistance.

To be eligible for the ABA Diversity Foundation scholarship, applicants must:

The Tax Section’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Scholarships are designed to provide members of diverse backgrounds, historically underrepresented individuals, or those with a recognized commitment to DEI the opportunity to attend and participate in our May, Fall or Midyear Tax Meetings.

Recipients of DEI scholarship receive:
